June 3rd, 2010NewsAs I’m sure you know (and if you don’t, check out the sidebar!) Suzie Gardner and I are working very hard on writing the greatest Glee book ever. Don’t Stop Believin’: The Unofficial Guide to Glee will hit bookstore shelves on September 15, one day after the season one DVD is available! The book will have discuss how Glee came to be, the production behind the show, cast bios, very comprehensive episode guides and a few interviews!
It’s been tons of fun to write, but now we need your help! The first half of the book is written and good to go, but it needs to be edited. And who better to edit it then fellow gleeks?! Thanks to Bite Size Edits, this can happen!

How it works:
- The first chapter of the book is uploaded on Bite Size Edits.
- Random bits of text will be generated for you to edit!
- The more edits you make, the more points you score!
- The editors with the most points win! We’ll be giving away an autographed copy of the book to the top two editors! (And, if there’s a lot of helpful editors, we may give out a few more…we’ll see!)
Note: you have to be registered in order for the points to register. Don’t worry, it’s easy and free!
What are you waiting for? Head here to start editing!

May 18th, 2010NewsThe Fox upfronts happened yesterday, where they announced next season’s schedule, their newest shows and any big surprises that may come out way. The cast of Glee closed out the session with a version of “Like a Prayer.”
But none of that matters.
Glee scored the coveted post-Superbowl slot. This is the most important television time slot all year, as the Superbowl is the most-watched television event ever. February 6, 2011–are you ready? Fox promises the episode will be “very special!”
Glee will return at 8pm on Tuesdays and move to Wednesdays, after American Idol halfway through the season. The 8pm move is interesting–it shows they’re trying to cater to their younger viewers and the family-viewing dynamic the show has.

April 30th, 2010Dianna AgronDianna Agron will be one of the many stars in People’s Most Beautiful People issue. She did the photo shoot last month (video below!) but kept it a secret until now! The issue is currently on newsstands (it’s the one with Sandra Bullock on the cover!).
I love Dianna and think she’s gorgeous inside and out, but her being the sole Glee star on this list upsets me. Glee celebrates diversity and has so many other beautiful people in its cast. Why couldn’t they have highlighted the whole cast? Or made the surprising choice like Amber Riley or Chris Colfer? Or go with an older cast member? Choosing the pretty blonde is frustrating and limiting the idea of what is and what can be beautiful.

Since Fox is trying to kill everyone who’s excited for Glee to come back next week (and convince everyone who isn’t watching the show that they should!), they’ve deemed the week leading up to the April 13th comeback Gleek Week. They’re promising lots of interaction between fans and with fan favorite characters. It sounds fun, but nothing absolutely spectacular is planned (other than Oprah and the “Hello” previews, which were previously announced!). Check it:
- A new innovative social trailer that allows fans to connect with their favorite Glee characters on Facebook while watching the promo for the series will be available at www.fox.com/glee beginning Monday, April 5.
- Fan-favorite characters from Glee will introduce each night telling viewers what’s on FOX that evening; and viewers should watch FOX programming closely thoughout the week to catch all of the special Glee-themed FOX Frames that feature Sue Sylvester and other characters. Additionally, original cast interviews and content pieces will available online at fox.com.
- Gleeks are encouraged to show their glee all week long on their social networking pages by changing their avatars to pictures of themselves posing with Glee’s signature loser “L.” For gleeks who need help with their Facebook page updates, status quotes from McKinley High’s crew – including Sue Sylvester and Kurt Hummel – will available on the Glee Facebook fan page along with new photos starting Monday, April 5. Additionally, Glee themed Facebook “gifts” will be available for free so keep an eye out for trophies and try to avoid slushies from your fellow gleeks.
- Gleeks can go to fox.com beginning Wednesday, April 7 to recreate the fun of a real photo booth by “posing” with their favorite characters from the show and uploading the photos to Facebook to share with friends and family.
- On Wednesday, April 7, the cast of Glee will be on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” for a fun-filled hour of behind-the-scenes secrets, revealing interviews, unseen backstage moments and a show-stopping performance.
- Los Angeles residents will get a special treat on Saturday, April 10 when Glee takes over The Grove with a free outdoor screening of the spring premiere episode and the debut of the Glee fountain show. Glee fans can also find additional screenings in select markets.
And coming soon – the Glee app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad! You can still be part of the club, even if you aren’t on the show! Sing along to your favorite Glee songs (from the actual soundtrack), record your voice and share it with your friends. Sign up now for more information at www.fox.com/glee. - MySpace users who log into their personal homepages on Tuesday, April 13 will see a first-ever animated takeover where Rachel becomes their profile picture and Sue pops out to shout a tune-in message about the show’s premiere that night, all while blowing parts of the page away.
I cannot wait for April 13th.

They’re certainly maxing out all the licensing possibilities Glee has, aren’t they? Playbill is reporting that a stage version of Glee is in the works, which means we could see our favorite New Directions characters on the Broadway stage.

The hills are alive with the sound of Glee!
“The ‘Glee’ deal is in negotiations. We’re exploring a collaborative venture with Fox and ‘Glee.’ We just think it’s a natural,” MIT chairman Freddie Gershon said.
I must admit, out of all the development deals, a stage show makes the most sense. It could be based on the first season and include Glee’s best numbers, like “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” and “Somebody to Love.” I’d see this show. Would you? The only question I have is who can play Rachel Berry other than Lea Michele? Any suggestions?
UPDATE: Variety is now reporting that a Glee stage show is not, and has never been, in the works. Considering the upcoming live show, it’s easy to see how people became confused.

The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has selected eight great shows that explore issues about diversity, accessibility and more. On the list? Why, Glee of course! The episode “Wheels” (one of the show’s best and Ryan Murphy’s personal favorite) tackled all kinds of diversity and accessibility issues with heart and humor.
Joining our fave musical are the HBO film Taking Chance about escorting fallen soliders remains home from Iraq, HBO’s documentary Grandpa, Do You Know Who I Am, about dealing with a grandparent’s Alheizmer’s disease, National Geographic Television’s Inside Death Row, which followed prison inmates and their families in Texas, Private Practice, CSI, Discovery Health’s Unlocking Autism documentary, and Current TV’s Vanguard: The OxyContin Express about drug abuse.
These shows’ creators will be honored at the Beverly Hills Hotel on May 5th! Congrats!

Okay, I would kill to be Sasha and Malia Obama. Being the First Kids sucks, but when you’re young and adorable like them, you avoid the media scrutiny a little less. And you get pretty much whatever you want. Like a Glee Easter performance! That’s right, the cast of Glee was invited to perform at the infamous White House Easter Egg Roll and let’s face it, you never say no to the White House.
Ausiello scored the scoop first. Details for the visit are still being worked out. However, it should happen. The White House will not pull an NBC and revoke the offer.
I want to go Easter Egg hunting with Sasha and Malia. And be their bestest friends.

Even movie’s biggest night can’t escape from the power of Glee! Harry Shum Jr. and his dance crew LXD announced yesterday that they’ve been asked to perform at the Oscars! How amazing is that?
Check out their announcement video below. It’s pretty cute.
The Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 7th on ABC. Will you be watching?

The reaction to adding three new cast members to Glee has been mixed at best. I’m really excited to see the audition process. Ryan Murphy found some talented people for the original cast and I can only imagine who will pop up now that the show is a smash success.

While it’s odd adding cast members to a show that already has a huge ensemble, Glee takes place in high school. It’s already weird that the core twelve New Directions members are probably all sixteen and in grade ten. (I have my hopes up that Artie, Rachel, Kurt, Tina and Mercedes are sophomores and Quinn, Puck, Finn, Matt and Mike are juniors). The new kids can be freshman coming into the mix. If done right, it will add a lot to the show.
If I were writing the show, I’d add:
- A bitchy new cheerleader trying to take over Santana’s place as queen of the school
- A talented drama queen who threatens Rachel
- A new guy who never speaks and his name is never mentioned, he’s just “New Kid”
- A foreign exchange student a la Fez on That Seventies Show
- Two freshman friends who join New Directions together. I’m thinking a Mallory/Jessi from the BSC thing.
What do you think? What sort of characters does Glee need? Poll below the jump! I’m cautiously optimistic this is going to be great for the show!

AOL named the first-ever Glee musical performance — the one when the original five sing Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” — one of the top television moments of 2009!
This was a different type of music than what we’d heard on TV in awhile — retro, optimistic, and sure, a little cheesy, but Michele’s soaring vocals and the insistent ‘da da da’ opening proved irresistible.
I think this performance is what cemented Glee as one of the must-watch shows of the fall season. Without a solid musical number, the show would have been shaky with viewers and critics alike. However, by delivering the goods, they proved that Glee was something to watch!
