August 11th, 2010MusicWhy do these tribute episode rumors never end? But then, the Britney Spears one turned out to be true…
I love me some George Michaels and think a tribute episode would be hilarious. Glee has already covered WHam! (sort of) with their “Last Christmas” single. But of they did a whole George Michael episode, what would they sing?
Here’s some suggestions:
1) Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by the New Directions Girls
When Will suggests everyone look to the ’80s for inspiration, of course Rachel forces the girls to do the cheesiest, most over-the-top song ever. They’ll do it tongue in cheek, of course, with neon workout gear and manic smiles.2) Freedom by Finn
The girls’ performance inspires Will so much that he asks the boys to explore George Michaels’ music, as he was one of the most flamboyant and iconic performers in the 80s. Naturally, Finn gravitates to his most rock-like song and his sexed-up leather-jakcet performance in the choir room does not make Rachel very happy.3) Everything She Wants by Artie, Puck Kurt, Mike and Matt
We’ve heard the Tina/Artie rumors for season two. Artie is still hurting over their break-up and uses the George Michael assignment to let her know how he feels, soliciting the remaining boy (sans Finn) to serve as back-up as he delivers a raw, rocked-out version of this song in glee club.4) I Knew You Were Waiting for Me by Will with New Directions
Emma is stinging from her break-up with the dentist, Carl Howell. Will, inspired by his own assignment, decides to declare his love and make her laugh with a big production number in the auditorium. After competing with Carl, he realizes over the top gestures are needed to win Emma over. The result? An amazing 80s-infused number with New Directions offering back-up.5) Careless Whisper by Rachel
After Finn’s upsetting performance, Rachel turns to George Michael to find a song to sing through her heartbreak in the auditorium, alone, in a Take a Bow-style fantasy sequence.6) I Want Your Sex by Puck with Brittany and Santana
Puck is so over glee club and wants to “Sex it up.” After Finn’s performance, Puck’s competitive side comes out and decides to one-up him by going for “I Want Your Sex” and using Brittany and Santana as the sexiest back-up dancers ever.7) Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me by Kurt
Kurt is not loving this George Michael assignment. At all. He feels that many of glee club’s latest assignments overlook him and his talents. He’s especially offended by the overly sexed up performances everyone seems to be doing in practice. He decides to take George’s cover of an Elton John classic and turn it into an emotional message song-leaving everyone in tears and setting up the message of the episode.8 ) Faith by New Directions
Tags: Just for Fun, Music
At the end of the episode, New Directions realizes that George Michael isn’t about cheesy pop hits or cheesy saxophone riffs. He’s about creativity, perseverance and keeping the faith. The result is a wonderfully optimistic version of “Faith” at the end of the episode. -
July 14th, 2010FunSo, as we all know John Stamos is coming on to the second season of Glee for a multi-episode arc as Emma’s new love interest–and Will’s new competition. I think trumping dentist Carl Howell might be a bit tougher than defeating football coach Ken Tanaka (it’s like a video game! The end-of-the-level enemies get harder and harder). However, Emma’s been in love with Will for a looooong time.
It’s going to be a close competition, and here’s how they stack up:
Round One: Hair
Will: Lucious, curly locks that evoke jealously in Sue Sylvester. However, she has a point. There’s so much product up there, Barbie has an eaiser time running her hands through Ken’s plastic locks than Emma does in Will’s. Besides, Dep is sticky. And messy. And gross.
Carl: In Carl’s previous life, he was known for his thick, dreamy hair. While he cared a little too much (remember when Stephanie cut it?!), it’s silky smoothness demonstrates that Carl knows how to use the correct mount of product to encourage mazimum touching with minimum mess.
Point: Carl
Round Two: Musical Ability
Will: Will can sing. And play the ukelele. But he has a hard time picking good song choices. (Let’s recall: Le Freak, Endless Love, Gold Digger. Not so good.)
Carl: Carl can sing. And play guitar. And he was super famous in Japan for a year. And he sang the romantic and appropriate “Forever” by the Beach Boys at the wedding. He also recognized that white men rapping is never a good idea and vetoed the rap version of “Forever” before it ever hit airwaves.
Point: Carl
Round Three: Broadway Stardom
Will: In his past life, Will was a Tony-nominated actor with several credits to his name.
Carl: In his past life, Carl has appeared in a few Broadway shows. While he showed much potential, he still has yet to snag that coveted Tony nomination.
Point: Will
Round Four: Cleanliness
Will: Will was a part-time janitor.
Carl: Carl was the heir to a successful exterminator throne. And lived with Danny Tanner for 10 years.
Point: Carl
Round Five: Man-whore potential
Will: Will has been a player since leaving Terri.
Carl: Carl was a player until he met Aunt Becky.
Point: Ken
After five rounds, Carl takes the lead 3-1 over Will. Conclusion? Emma, give your heart to Carl Howell. He will love you “Forever.”
What do you think? Who deserves Emma’s heart? Vote below!

June 28th, 2010MusicIt’s looking more and more likely that Glee will be doing a Britney Spears episode next season. Ryan Murphy said two tribute episodes are in the works next season. Heather Morris likes to insinuate she wants to sing Britney. While I’m not in love with a Britney Spears episode, I can’t help but wonder what everyone would sing. Here’s a few suggestions!
Toxic by Quinn (with Mercedes and Tina back-up)
Now that Puck’s declared his unending love for Quinn, they’re giving it a go. He’s trying, but he’s still the Puckasaurus and too often he screws up. Quinn’s had enough and is ready to move on unless he changes his toxic ways.I’m a Slave 4 You by Will
When Emma tells Will she thinks his Britney Spears assignment is sexist and demeaning, he recreates this song into a hilariously slow acoustic version to show her Britney can be fun (and to woo her, of course.)Baby, One More Time by Rachel
Rachel and Finn aren’t quite working out. Surprised? Despite this, Rachel is ready to give it another go…and another…and another…while Finn’s ready to break-up and move on. The result? Rachel sings this song, complete with knee socks and a pleated skirt.Oops, I Did It Again by Santana
Now that Santana’s the queen bee, she’s breaking hearts and taking names. When both Puck and Finn come crawling back after fights with Quinn and Rachel, Santana’s been there, done that. She’s moved on to bigger and better things, and bigger and better men.(You Drive Me) Crazy by New Directions Boys
With all this girl craziness going on, the boys decide to stick it to the girls with a rendition of Britney’s “Crazy.” They’re acting crazy and the boys can’t take it anymore. Not Yet a Girl, Not Yet a Woman by New Directions Girls
After all this romantic upheaval, the girls feel bad about putting the boys through the emotional ringer. They decide to sing Britney’s epic ballad to demonstrate to the boys that they are teen girls who come with a lot of emotions and baggage.Stronger by New Directions

Britney’s song about triumphing over relationship struggles makes for a great episode-ending song. -
June 19th, 2010FunYesterday it was revealed that the entire Glee cast has an option for three feature films built into their contracts. Oh, Fox, they’re so wily. While it’s unlikely three movies would ever get made, here’s some ideas Fox can have!
Glee: Summer of Love
It’s the summer between school. Rachel goes to theatre camp, Kurt, Brittany and Santana go to cheer camp, and Puck and Finn get jobs and bum around Lima, trying to kill their boredom. Quinn meets a boy who doesn’t know about her pregnant past and Mercedes and Tina bond over family issues. Artie discovers that the accident that took away his ability to walk was actually his mother’s fault and needs to come to terms with that. Kurt becomes a superstar and begins to seriously consider going after a cheerleading scholarship. Rachel’s talent is questioned and she begins to wonder if she really does have what it takes. Finn, again, begins to question his relationship with Rachel when he has a casual fling with a lifeguard and Puck’s pool cleaning business takes off, making him grow up way too fast.
Glee: Bright Lights, Big City
High school is over and the gang has spread out across the country in quest to become adults. Rachel enrolls in the Tisch School of the Arts in New York and has her eye on Broadway, where her star power is questioned. Jesse, who transferred there just last year, is back and Rachel is not only confused about her professional dreams, but also her personal ones. Kurt enrolls at the Fashion Institute for Technology, where he becomes fashion’s next big thing overnight (and we can have a Tim Gunn cameo!). Artie enrolled in film school and he and Kurt are roomies. Finn followed Rachel to New York just to get out of Lima and ends up working at Yankee stadium and discovers his true talent as a great coach and teacher. Puck, Quinn, Mercedes and Tina stick closer to home, enrolling in university in Columbus, Ohio, where Puck and Quinn’s relationship is tested by college girls, Mercedes struggles with school and wonders about her future and Tina, still harboring dreams of stardom, begins to wonder if she, too, should head for New York. When Tina decides to seriously consider a transfer, the rest of the Glee gang goes with her. It’s New York, after all. Who wouldn’t want to go?
Glee Gives Back
After the entire glee club is arrested for egging Vocal Adrenaline’s houses, they’re given community service where they have to help run an inner-city music program. Think Sister Act 2 meets Glee. How can that go wrong? The club tries to balance their glee priorities and helping these kids, and when the kids’ regionals and the same day as New Directions’ regionals, there’s a tough decision to be made.
What Glee movie would you like to see?

June 17th, 2010FunI
t was announced last week that Little, Brown and Company will be publishing Glee novelizations. The first book will be a prequel, telling us about what happened to the characters before they joined New Directions. No other stories have been revealed, but I’m inclined to make a few suggestions. Here’s six Glee books I’d like to see.
1) The Official Autobiography of Sue Sylvester
Ca you imagine what lies and advice Sue Sylvester will spew if she was given 300 pages to write a tell all? I want to hear about her Nazi-hunting parents, being a seven-year-old at Palladium, about her DJing days, her military days–all of it. Written in the trademark Sue swagger, of course!
2) Cleaning Counsel: How to Live Germ-Free in a Sticky, Smelly School by Emma Pillsbury
Emma likes to keep things in order. I’d love to see her outline her rules for cooking, cleaning, and eating (Rule #42: All grapes must be individually disinfected before consumption), and how she manages to live a “normal” life despite being deadly afraid of germs.
3) The Vampire King: Asian Vampires Graphic Novel Series #1 by Tina Cohen-Chang
Inspired by her run-in with Principal Figgins, Tina decides to cash in on her vampire heritage and teams up with Artie to produce a Twilight-meets-Scott Pilgrim vampire graphic novel series.
4) Being Lady Fabulous on a Budget: The Kurt Hummel Guide to Style
Since Kurt lives in Lima, Ohio, he’d had to get creative with his fashion and design sense. Years of practice means he’s got the expertise to turn any small-town wannabe into a design superstar.
5) Glee: the 1990s Novelization
I need to see a novelization of McKinley High back in 1992, when Bryn Ryan ruled the school, Terri and Will just met, and Sue was the eager young gym teacher. Basically, I want these episode suggestions in novel form.
6) The Berry Broadway Best
Rachel has surely seen every Broadway musical ever. Here, she uses her expertise to criticize and rank all her favorite shows to offer Broadway newbies a navigational guide to who’s who, what’s what, what shows to see and which ones to avoid. If it becomes a bestseller, we can fully expect to see an annual printing.

The Landlines comedy group put together this video that gives you a rundown of the first thirteen episodes of Glee in sixty seconds! It’s pretty clever and hits on all the high points so far, so check it out before you tune into the real thing tonight!
I love how spot-on all the characters were!

So the cool thing to do nowadays is promote Glee with a giant flashmob. The first one to hit this side of the pond occurred earlier this week in Seattle in three different locations. Over 3,000 people took part and, in true flash mob style, the dances were only loosely choreographed and all dancers were invited to take part. How lucky were the folks hanging out in Pioneer Square’s Occidental Mall, Pike Place Market and Kerry Park in Queen Anne on Saturday?
Check out the amazing video of the Occidental Mall flash mob:
When is a flash mob coming to Toronto, people? I need to see this live.

In honor of Glee returning tomorrow (TOMORROW PEOPLE), he and his cast made a second episode of his Glee parody skit, 6-Bee and it’s amazing. The cast from Parks and Recreation show up (a hilarious show, by the way), parodying Vocal Adrenaline. They’ve found a way around NBC’s show choir rules and it looks like Jimmy’s 6-Bees might not win sectionals after all! Whatever will they do? Tune in below to find out!
I hope Jimmy keeps this mini-show up. It’s a cute and clever nod to the greatest show of all time. He even took a slushie (but not to his face!).

April 6th, 2010FunThe Geek Clique made this amazing (and oh so creepy!) trailer for a horro film featuring Rachel Berry, homocidial maniac. With the exception of one small scene, everything is taken from the first thirteen episodes of Glee! It’s well done and it terrifies me how well it works!
Enjoy!
