    March 20th, 2010Erin (Glee Dork)Movies, Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy is one busy guy. While he was prepping the first season of Glee, he was also working on his second film, Eat, Pray, Love.

The film, based on Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir of the same name, tells the story of a married woman who takes drastic measures to find true happiness. She leaves a stable and happy marriage and sets off on a journey around the world. Julia Roberts stars as Elizabeth and the film will hit theatres on August 13th.

Ryan co-wrote the script with Jennifer Salt and he directed the film. You’ll notice Burt Hummel (Mike O’Malley) makes an appearance in the trailer, but I can’t find his name on any cast list. Oh well!

This would be a good film to see with your mom.

December 31st, 2009Erin (Glee Dork)Episodes, Interviews, Music, Original Song, Ryan Murphy

Ryan Murphy sat down with Billboard and revealed one of the juiciest tidbits for the back nine episodes yet — one of them will feature all original music!

“I’ve had a lot of calls from songwriters, to the point where it’s kind of embarrassing and ridiculous,” he told the website. “So we’re writing an episode called ‘Original Song’ where the teacher asks the kids to write their own piece of music. Diane Warren is going to do two big ballads, and if it works, we’ll see what happens . . . but we won’t do it all the time.”

One of the contributing song writers will be Ryan Tedder of One Republic. Ryan’s music has already been featured on Glee — he wrote Beyonce’s “Halo.”

    He told Idolator.com:

Glee is actually my new addiction. I download every episode. They actually just approached me. Adam Anders, the guy who does all the music, approached me about two weeks ago to do original music for the next season. So I’m gonna be doing at least one song for the next season that’s original.

I like the idea of an episode dedicated to original music. It’s going to be fun to see what original songs they envision for each character. What kind of song would Rachel write? Finn? Kurt? Quinn? It’s going to be amazing! However, I’m not a fan of including original music in the show becoming a regular thing. One of the joys of Glee is seeing how Ryan Murphy and his music masterminds interpret popular songs for the show.

What do you think? Is original music a good move?
